The N64 Power Management System is the ubiquitous power solution for your next N64 portable. This compact board handles all your power needs by combining battery management and voltage regulation onto a single board. This iteration of the PMS line is designed specifically to operate with all known revisions of the N64.
UNDERVOLTING HAS ENTERED THE CHAT
Undervolting has been tested by the community to drastically reduce system power consumption, resulting in substantially improved thermals and battery life. The 3.3v rail on the N64 PMS can be configured to run at 3.0v by soldering a single jumper. Undervolting capability and stability does vary based on the silicon lottery of the N64 board itself, so 3.0v was chosen as a happy medium.
MELTDOWNS PROHIBITED
The N64 PMS includes a thermocouple to attach to the board, used to monitor the temperature of the board. If something goes wrong and the temperature gets too hot, N64 PMS cuts power to prevent permanent damage to your portable.
JUMPER IN
The N64 PMS can be completely configured using the onboard jumpers. Charge speed, undervolting, power switch behavior, and RGB LED type are all configurable; no programming or flashing required.
SAFETY FIRST
Nobody is perfect, and sometimes a late night session ends with a wire going where it shouldn't. The built in reverse polarity protection provides a safety net against some of the most common wiring mistakes. While these new protections will not protect you from ALL user error, they might just save you from an unexpected encounter with magic smoke.
BUILDING BLOCKS
N64 PMS features castellated pads along the edges. These pads can be soldered to directly, or soldered wire-free onto boards of your own design using our open-source footprints. Building a tidy, highly integrated portable has never been easier.
